Chapter 1 – Farewell Present
by certherBy far the most insane year of my life started on the last day of Hogwarts.
All us seventh years had been let out of our final lessons early and we’d filled up the Gryffindor common room, sprawled in armchairs, sitting on the rug, perched on the backs of sofas. My classmates were passing around a battered camera Colin Creevey had left behind, snapping last-day photos, telling loud stories about all the wild things they’d done over seven years. A couple of girls from the Quidditch team were sniffling into a cushion, getting consoled by some of the boys.
“Can we just get on with it?” my friend Demelza groaned. She’d never been a fan of Hogwarts, not really. I imagined it just didn’t fit with her aesthetic. Demelza always joked she was my best mate after Ron, and when we’d been first years people had sometimes mistaken her for a small boy. Most of the older students were in their best robes for the last day, or had charmed their house ties into ridiculous shapes, but Demelza had on an oversized Muggle jean jacket over a hoodie, with a beanie pulled down over her tangled tawny hair.
“Cheer up, love. Twenty minutes and we’re done with this stone heap forever.” Romilda Vane sidled up and dropped into the seat beside me. She’d wormed her way into our circle over seventh year. I’d always judged her as loud, basic, ditzy, a party girl. I’d been wrong to. She was loud, could be a ditz, and loved a Hogsmeade pub crawl, but she was much more fun than I’d given her credit for, much smarter and much weirder than she let on. She had a reputation around school for being a bit of a slag, which I think was overblown on account of her shameless attitude and famously huge… well… tits.
“What’s up, lovelies?” Romilda nudged me. She was touchy with all her friends, but it was still new enough to me that it made me go red and awkward. “Don’t tell me you’re actually sad about leaving this draughty dump?”
“Well…” I started, and she laughed. “So what if I am? It’s our last day and everything. I didn’t think it was that bad.”
Compared to most quiet, nerdy blokes, I’d probably had a decent time at Hogwarts. My marks were all right, my Head of House mostly liked me, and I got on with most people. Gryffindor was small enough for that. I wasn’t the most popular kid in the castle. I wasn’t Quidditch captain (Ron had that), I wasn’t a prefect (also Ron), but I’d been roped into Frog Choir and the End-of-Year Revue, so most of the year knew me and I was friendly with a lot of the choir and revue kids.
Of course, I had my close friends, including Hermione, Demelza, Hannah, Padma, my only real bloke friend Ron, and sometimes Romilda, and we’d have a laugh at weekends just lounging in the common room, playing Exploding Snap, or sneaking off to Honeydukes and the Three Broomsticks. I didn’t have much to complain about.
So why was I so depressed?
Like she usually did, my best mate Hermione seemed to read my mind. “Are you thinking about all the things you never did?”
Fuck. I shook my head, trying not to let it show.
“Yep, that’s it.” Demelza narrowed her eyes at me. “Let’s see. Never had a real Firewhisky, never smoked a roll-up behind the greenhouses, never been to a proper Hogsmeade lock-in.” She counted on her fingers. “Never cut class, never cheated on an exam, never snuck out after curfew.”
“Never been on a date,” Hermione added quietly. I avoided her eyes on that one. Hermione had asked me to go to Hogsmeade in fourth year and I’d said no. It had been a whole thing. She wasn’t ugly, a bit on the soft side, with bushy auburn hair and big brown eyes, but we’d been friends so long that I just didn’t fancy her like that.
“You’ve never even snogged a girl, have you?” Demelza asked bluntly.
“Yeah, he has.” Romilda grinned slyly. “Revue.”
“Doesn’t count,” Demelza scoffed. “Not even close.”
“Oh, come on.” I mumbled. Everyone in the circle knew my first kiss had been with Lavender Brown during a dress rehearsal for The Fountain of Fair Fortune in the spring. This had been awkward enough on its own, but to really pile it on, she’d been Ron’s girlfriend at the time, and I’d been hopelessly into her for months.
They were right, of course. I’d basically spent my entire Hogwarts career not doing all the things you were supposed to do at school.
It wasn’t that my aunt and uncle were strict or that I’d been raised in some temple, like Hannah’s lot. And it wasn’t that I’d never had the chance, either. I might have spent most evenings playing chess with Ron or rereading Quidditch Through the Ages for the tenth time, but Romilda or Hermione would’ve happily dragged me along to a party in the Hufflepuff dorm to get pissed on smuggled Firewhisky. Even Demelza turned up sometimes, when she wasn’t lighting up something herbal in the disused girls’ lavatory on the fourth floor.
I suppose I was just terrified of humiliating myself. What if all it took was one tumbler for me to pass out and shit my robes, like Cormac McLaggen at the Slug Club Christmas do? What if I got off with someone who decided my cock was too small and told the whole castle, like Eddie Carmichael? These things happened, and I’d hear all about it in the Great Hall the next morning at breakfast.
It just seemed safer to wait until I was a bit less complete-fucking-insecure. I didn’t know when I expected to suddenly wake up cool and fit and broad-shouldered, but I figured it’d be sometime after I’d left.
Forcing down the lump in my throat, I dug into my pocket for something to fidget with, and even found myself hating that I had a battered old Cleansweep parked in the broom shed instead of a Firebolt, like McLaggen.
Then I felt a familiar jolt as the gold in my hand warmed. The DA Galleon. I’d kept mine on me out of habit. So had Lavender, apparently, because the engraving along the rim had shifted, and her tiny looping handwriting was crawling across the metal.
Harry. Come to the Room of Requirement.
I frowned. Weird message. I rolled the coin between my fingers and the letters resettled with a small flash.
What’s up? I’m in the common room.
The Galleon went warm again almost at once.
Surprise. Come alone xx.
I chewed my lip, confused but thoroughly intrigued. I couldn’t stop my stomach from jumping a bit. A surprise from Lavender? Probably nothing. She was friends with half the Frog Choir, maybe they’d cobbled together some farewell thing for the leavers.
I shoved the Galleon back in my pocket and pushed up from the rug.
“Where are you off to?” Hermione asked.
“Off to your first proper snog, eh? Bet Filch’d be up for it.” Demelza nodded vaguely at the portrait hole. “Reckon he’s a real tongue man.”
“None of your business. Maybe I’m going to do my first line off the Slytherin prefect’s bathroom mirror. Back in a bit.” I grabbed my bag and ducked out of the portrait hole.
The seventh-floor corridor was empty, the tapestry of Barnabas the Barmy hanging as bored as ever. I paced past the blank stretch of wall three times, thinking I need to find Lavender, and the heavy oak door bled out of the stone.
The Room, when I pushed inside, had decided to look like the little auditorium it had shaped itself into for the revue rehearsals back in the spring. Red velvet curtains pulled back from a low wooden stage. The candle chandeliers were dimmed. A row of empty seats stretched out into the dark.
The door swung shut heavily behind me, leaving the place quiet as I jogged down the aisle.
“Hello?” I called.
Lavender’s head poked out from between the curtains onstage. She brushed her fringe out of her eyes and smiled. “Hi.”
“Hi. Uh, what’re you doing?” I crossed the floor towards her.
“It’s your last day, isn’t it? Thought you’d want to see the place one more time.” Lavender slipped out from between the curtains. She was a sixth year, so she wasn’t leaving until next summer. Seeing her up there on the boards, I was reminded of why I’d fallen for her in the first place. She was sweet and witty and a much better singer and a performer than I’d ever be. Hogwarts had so few seventh-year blokes willing to go up onstage that I’d somehow ended up with a lead in the spring.
She’d played Asha, the witch with the cursed life, in The Fountain of Fair Fortune, and even out of her costume she sometimes looked like she’d stepped straight out of an old wizarding portrait. Honey-blonde hair curled around her chin in a soft retro cut, full features, big pale eyes. She had a smear of red on her lips today, a plain Muggle-cut dress under her open school robes, white blouse and floral skirt, plimsolls instead of school shoes.
“Yeah.” I looked around the empty rows with my hands in my pockets. “Good times.” I felt a stab of irritation as I remembered what it had been like to kiss Lavender every night for a week of rehearsals and then watch her jump into Ron’s arms backstage. They’d broken up since. I swallowed as I thought about why.
“She just really wanted to shag, and I didn’t,” Ron had told me one night in the dorm, ears burning.
Lavender had been a lot less innocent than Ron or I’d ever thought. I got that Ron wasn’t ready. But honestly, I’d kill to have a problem like that.
Back in the spring, when I’d been into her. Back then.
“What’s he doing?” a girl’s voice whispered. Lavender glanced back behind the curtain and made a sharp shushing motion.
“Um.” I gave a confused laugh. “Is there someone back there? You know it’s not my birthday, right? Am I about to get jinxed?”
Lavender laughed. “No. Just come up here, all right?” She held out a hand.
Nervously combing my fingers through my hair, I hopped up onto the stage and took it. We’d held hands before, but only in character. The whole thing was getting stranger by the second. Lavender led me through the curtains. It was dark backstage, but a faint glow filtered in from the prop racks, and by the light of a hovering tip-blue flame I saw another familiar face.
“About time,” Parvati Patil said. She was another sixth year I’d consider myself friendly with, a dancer in the revue and a Chaser on the Gryffindor team. Half-Indian, petite, long dark hair pulled up high in a ponytail. She had on what I’d come to recognise as her practice gear, leggings and a snug Muggle vest.
“Oh. Hi. What, uh, why are you hiding back here?”
Parvati popped a piece of gum and looked at Lavender. “Will you just tell him already?”
“All right, all right.” Lavender laughed, squared her shoulders and tucked her hair behind her ear. “Right. So. It’s the last day of school, you’re leaving and everything. And you’ve been such a sweet, brilliant boy. And castmate,” she added. “And I wanted to do something to, you know. Say thanks. Say goodbye.”
I blushed and looked down at my shoes, but as she finished I looked up just in time for Lavender to come up on her tiptoes and kiss me. The soft press of her lips, the smell of her so close to me, all of it was familiar, but then her tongue slipped into my mouth and met mine and her fingers laced into my hair and I realised I was actually snogging Lavender Brown. This was very much not in the script.
In theory I’d have expected to panic. In practice I couldn’t help falling headlong into the sensation and kissing back as best I could, trying to remember everything I’d ever heard from Ron or Seamus or any of the older blokes. Don’t use too much tongue, hold her tight, follow her lead when it comes to head movement, gentle but keen. But honestly, none of it could distract me from how much I was just enjoying it.
I was sure the bell should have gone by the time we broke apart. There was a flush in Lavender’s cheeks, her breath had quickened, and the faintest smile curled her mouth, so I supposed I’d done all right.
“Merlin, snogging looks weird up close.” Parvati’s eyebrows were up around her hairline.
“Uh.” I stammered, suddenly very aware she’d been standing there the whole time.
“Shut up, Parv.” Lavender turned back to me, her eyes bright. “Right. Sorry to rush. We haven’t got loads of time. We can do more, if you’d like. If you’re up for it.”
“M-more?” I barely got the word out.
“Mhm. I noticed you’d gone a bit hard, so…” Lavender stepped closer and gestured to my trousers. I realised with a lurch that there was indeed a bulge forming in the front of my school trousers. Just from a kiss. Come on, mate, I thought.
“Oh my god, has he really?” Parvati leaned over and looked at my lap with frank interest.
“Stop being weird, you’re making him nervous.” Lavender slid her hand to my belt. “So. Do you want me to take care of this for you, or not?”
I’d never thought I’d have seconds to decide something like this. My hands were clammy, I was nearly shaking, and I had no idea why Parvati Patil was here. But it was the last day, and my old crush was about to, well, do something to my cock.
Fuck it. “Yeah. Yes. Thanks.”
“Brilliant. You’re going to love this, I promise.” With quick, practised hands, Lavender unbuckled my belt and popped the button on my trousers.
This was actually happening. “Wait, sorry. What’s she…” I nodded at Parvati.
“Don’t look at me, I’m not, you know, joining in or anything.” Parvati went a bit pink and held her hands up.
“She wanted to watch. She’s never seen one up close, like you. I thought it might be a bit hot.” Lavender paused with her fingers on my fly. “If it’s weird for you, we can send her off.”
“Oi.” Parvati pouted.
I honestly didn’t know how I felt about someone watching my first, well, anything, but I’d always thought Parvati was fit and I felt like I’d be a complete idiot to pass up the chance, so I just nodded. “No, it’s fine.”
With that, Lavender smiled, pulled my zip down and tugged my trousers and pants down to my thighs (no holes, thank Merlin), and my cock was out in front of a girl for the first time in my life. Two girls, technically.
I was only half-hard. I had a brief moment of panic that there were two girls looking at my cock at less than full attention, but then Lavender wrapped her soft hand around it and began to move, and that sorted itself out quickly.
I shut my eyes and tipped my head back at the dim chandeliers as, in Lavender’s firm grip, my cock swelled and stiffened into the raging, hormone-powered, achingly hard erection of an eighteen-year-old virgin.
There was a small gasp from Parvati. “Oh, bloody hell.” I glanced at her, and we made awkward eye contact, her gaze flicking from my face to my hard-on and then away again.
“Yeah.” Lavender laughed softly. Her hand felt so much better than my own ever had, her fingers more delicate, more clever, twisting and tugging and teasing. “He’s a grower.”
Then Lavender looked up at me and said the sexiest thing I’d ever heard. “I always knew you’d have a lovely big cock.”
I could’ve done a triumphant little dance right there, or just come on the spot, but a moment later I was glad I hadn’t, because Lavender dropped down onto her knees, her skirt spreading out around her, and slipped the head of my cock into her mouth.
“Oh, fuck,” I whispered, like I was scared of frightening her off. But Lavender stayed where she was, sucking me gently and steadily, taking more of my length down with each nod of her head. Her mouth was warm and wet, the tight ring of her lips working my stiff shaft just like her fingers had, her tongue lapping along the underside.
Parvati and I both watched, wide-eyed and slightly slack-jawed, as Lavender sucked me off with the same focus and passion she brought to every solo onstage. She controlled her pace carefully, taking me in and out with mounting speed before slowing again, savouring each swallow, eyes nearly closed.
The head of my cock slipped out of her mouth with a wet pop, and she let a mouthful of spit drool down the underside of me in its wake, leaving a strand of saliva connecting her lips to my shaft. Her lipstick was smeared all up my cock.
I stared down at her, panting, still half in shock. She grinned up at me and wiped her chin with the back of her hand. “Enjoying your first blowjob, Harry?”
I let out a rough laugh and nodded. “Merlin. Yeah. I can’t believe it.”
Lavender giggled. Almost lazily, she started to rub her pursed lips up and down my shaft. “Parv. Sure you don’t want to try?”
I clapped a hand to my flushed forehead. There was no way. That’d seal the deal, this had to be a dream.
But Parvati just shook her head, although I noticed her cheeks were properly red now. “I think I’m all right, thanks.” she said in an uncharacteristically small voice, refusing to meet my eye.
“What time is it?” Lavender asked.
Parvati hurriedly checked the little watch on her wrist. “Five past.”
“Aw. Time to wrap it up.”
I felt like whining and stamping my foot like a child. This couldn’t end. My straining cock was certainly ready for the big finish, mind. I was just glad I hadn’t gone off in the first ten seconds.
“Pity. I could suck this cock all day.” Lavender grinned and started to work me hard with both hands. “Come and kneel next to me, Parv. You’ll see it better up close. Hotter that way.”
Parvati hesitated, then sank to her knees next to her friend, biting her lip as Lavender took me back into her mouth. “Tell me when, all right?” Lavender said with her mouth half-full.
This time there was no teasing pacing. I let out a long groan and dug my nails into my palm as Lavender bobbed her head on my cock, taking me in and out with the eager wet rhythm of slurping smacks that sounded so much filthier than I’d ever have imagined. I felt the head of my cock hit the back of her throat and keep going, her lips nearly reaching the base of me, her nose brushing my dark, embarrassingly untidy pubic hair.
“Merlin. Oh, Merlin.” I put a hand on the back of her bobbing head without thinking, feeling her soft hair under my fingers.
Next to her, Parvati shifted on her knees, watching the filthy show. I caught her eye and she stiffened a little, but she held my gaze. I found myself thrusting into Lavender’s sucking mouth, pushing her head down, making her take me deeper as Parvati stared up at me. My eyes slid down to the small mounds in Parvati’s vest, her perky tits, just enough to cup in one hand.
She saw where I was looking, bit her lip, and right before my eyes, before my very eyes, I swear, I watched her nipples tighten into hard little points poking through her sports bra and the thin vest.
“Fuck, I’m going to come, I’m going to…” I spat out in a panic, feeling the orgasm tear up out of my balls and into my cock.
“Mmm.” Lavender moaned, muffled, holding her hair back as my cock pulsed the first thick burst into her mouth.
“Aghh, fuck.” I gritted my teeth, and my free hand shot out and clamped down on Parvati’s shoulder as I went off, pumping into Lavender’s throat. Parvati’s fingers wrapped around my wrist and held me there, even as my nails dug into her.
“Wait. Can I see?” Parvati mumbled hurriedly, and Lavender threw her head back to release me, just in time for my cock to give one last hard spurt. Unfortunately for Parvati, Lavender had aimed me her way, and the final rope of cum splattered across Parvati’s neck and one flushed cheek.
She flinched, gasped, and let out a small whine. “Oh my god, Lav. Ew. Ew.”
Lavender swallowed, dabbed the drop on her chin, and burst out laughing.
“Sorry, Parv, sorry,” I babbled, but I was laughing too, rough in my dry throat.
“Shut up. Bugger off, both of you.” Bright red, Parvati flipped us both off, scrambled to her feet, and stomped off through the curtain.
I helped Lavender up. My head was still spinning. “Bell’ll go soon. You’re nearly done,” Lavender said, breathless.
“Honestly, I’m not sure I want to leave now.”
Lavender laughed. “You have to. It was a leaving present.” She reached up and gave me another deep kiss, and to my credit I didn’t flinch at the faint taste of my own come on her tongue. Lavender seemed to like that. “Very fine manners, Sir Alaric.” It was my line from the revue.
“Oh, god.” I grimaced at the memory. “Lavender. Thank you. That was… brilliant.” I worked up my nerve. “If you ever want to…”
She shook her head, looking apologetic. “I’m still Ron’s ex, Harry. This should be it. Have a good summer, though. You’re going to be great.” With that, her fingers slipped out of mine and she was gone.
I did up my trousers and walked to the edge of the stage, my own breath still loud in the empty rows. I still had a lot of catching up to do, but that was three firsts off the list. I imagined Demelza counting them off on her fingers again. Snogged a girl properly, got a handjob, got a blowjob. All in less than twenty minutes. And summer was just starting.
I jumped down from the stage and practically sprinted out of the Room of Requirement.
